Staff of Office Building for safety from Fire Disaster 

 
  1. The building materials should be non combustible type.
  2. Sufficient space all around the building should be left at planning stage for easy access and manoeuvrity of Fire appliances.
  3. All doors, windows and compartments shall be of Fire Resistant type as per scale of ‘National Building Code’.
  4. Furniture, Fixture & decorative item shall be of non-combustible type as far as possible.
  5. There should be at least two number of staircase and refuge area where applicable as per scale shall be provided.
  6. Staircase, Lobby, Lift Lobby and refuge area should be free from any type of obstruction.
  7. The Directional sign, 'No Smoking' Board, Telephone Number of the nearest Fire Station shall be properly displayed in Strategic locations.
  8. Quarterly and bi-annually mock practice of Fire and evacuation drill shall be ensured.
  9. Emergency plan with reference to first Aid fire fighting and till evacuation shall be prepared with the Occupier, Employee & Merchant Association.
  10. Underground water reservoir of adequate quantity water along with replenishment arrangement shall be provided in each residential building.
  11. Entire building shall be provided with pressurized fixed installation system as per recommendation.
  12. At least two Pumps, electrical & diesel driven type along with jockey pump in a pump house shall be incorporated with the protection system and to be aintained regularly.
  13. Switch off generator or any appliances before pouring fuel into it.
  14. Don't dispose of or throw any burning ends of bidi or cigarette on the floor or the corner.
  15. Don't use temporary electric wirings.
  16. Always use proper Fuse wire for electric circuit.
  17. Put off the electric main switch of the office rooms at the end of the office hours.
  18. Do periodical check-up of all machines and appliances.
  19. Be vigilant against leakage of inflammable liquids or gases.
  20. Shut down the air conditioning system as soon as fires noticed.
  21. Educate the employees on fire hazards and what is to be done in the event of fire.
  22. Don't use electric appliances or higher capacity exceeding that for which the wiring was done.
  23. Don't leave any heating or cooling (electrically operated) appliance switched on after working hours.
  24. Don't store any inflammable or hazardous articles adjacent to working place.
  25. Don't disobey the rules for fire prevention of the premises.
  26. Inflammable and toxic gases should be stored and handled in an open area with low density of population.
  27. The prescribed preventive measures for storage or use of any radioactive or explosive material shall have to be implemented in to-to. Don't forget it.
  28. Consult fire service to protect your workshop, office and stores from fire.
