Do's and Dont's during the Fire emergency hours in building

1. The building materials should be non-combustible type.
2. Sufficient space around the perimeter of the building for easy access and manoeuvrity of fire service vehicle shall be maintained.
3. All doors, windows and compartments shall be of Fire Resistant type as per scale of ‘National Building Code’.
4. Furniture, decorative item shall be of non-combustible type as far as possible.
5. Switch off power appliances while they are not in use or at the time of power failure.
6. Ovens and stoves should not be filled with fuel when they are burning. Never over Pump a pressure stove as it may burst. A wick stove is safer than a pressure stove. Never fill kerosine when the stove is lit. Always put out the flames first and allow the stove to cool. Check joints for fuel leakage and have the leaks attended to immediately. Store your kerosine away from the stove.
7.  Do not ignite a match-stick or put on electric switch when you smell leaking gas in the room.
8. Examine electric and L.P.G. equipment to remove any defect Provide appropriate fuse wrie to the electric circuit. Inform your L.P.G. distributor even when a minor defect or leakage is suspected.
9.  Don't store L.P.G. cylinders in basement or in dwelling rooms.
10. Don't open L.P.G. valve until you are ready to ignite the gas.
11. Extinguish any unattended fire immediately.
12. Keep no flame burning as you retire to bed.
13. Never, never smoke in bed or anywhere else when you are sleepy. It takes only a few minutes from the moment a cigarette in dropped on a pillow or mattress for the whole bedroom to go up in flames. Do not smoke while reclining or lying on bed.
14. Keep fire or it sources away from children. Don't allow children to play with matches. Educate children on fire hazards and how to prevent them.
15. Don't wear loose and synthetic garments while handling fire. Don't lean over fire.
